SOA (Support Our Athletes) would like to recognize and support our Olympic hopefuls as they prepare for the 2008 Summer Games. We believe recognition for their efforts and achievements, will give them the confidence and support they need to be successful. Their efforts also deserve the best support money can buy, which is why we have began our initiative.
"Know your past...prepare for the future." is our theme for the SOA fundraiser. Our focus is to recognize past Olympians, such as Jesse Owens, while giving our current athletes the support they need. It is always important to know and recognize those who paved the path for current success.
The first Olympics hosted by Athens, Greece in 1896 marked the beginning of a world renowned sports tradition. That is why, over a century later, we are able to unite in the same arena despite our cultural and social differences. In a time when our country is at war and our U.S. economy appears speculative, the 2008 Summer Olympics will serve as a catalyst in bringing our great country together. We are excited about supporting our athletes on their journey to the 2008 Summer Olympics.
